The Creative Audio Review

Source first. That is the Creative Audio way. Your speakers can only be as good as your amp, and your amp can only be as good as the source that feeds it. We see far too many people relying on Bluetooth and their phones for their digital music. That may be fine in the car or for cheap headphones, but if that’s your ‘solution’ for your home system, you’re doing yourself - and your music - a huge disservice! A dedicated streamer component will offer an epic leap in performance over Bluetooth and then within that product category, more invested always comes back to you in the form of better sound. The Cambridge Audio CXN100 is a fantastic high-end streamer at a mid-range price point that delivers on its promise. Compared to the usual suspects in the entry-level streamer category, the CXN100 offers so much more resolution and detail we are not sure where to start. What our clients most often pick up on is the greater sense of space with music played through the Cambridge; put simply, it sounds larger. Fine textural detail brings you closer to the performance. Most importantly, at this level you notice that you can hear the pulsing beat of the music, that character of hi-fi components that is hard to describe but you know it to be true because you can’t resist tapping your feet to the beat. When your budget can’t stretch to the likes of the Naim ND5 XS 2, the Cambridge Audio CXN100 will happily step up to the plate and wow you with its affordable musical prowess.

Sound Advice

  • The Cambridge Audio CXN100 will sound great right out of the box, but it will sound even better after 50-75 hours of use.

  • You will get the best performance out of the Cambridge Audio CXN100 by partnering it with suitable high-performance audio cables to your amplifier. We would be happy to advise based on the context of your system
