It can be challenging filling a large space with quality sound. A speaker’s work is in pressurising the room and the larger the room, the harder the speaker has to work. Too often speakers with larger bass drivers fall short of the accuracy and speed found in those with smaller, more agile woofers. Fortunately that is not the case with Focal’s Kanta No. 3. To be sure, you did need a large room to hear these speakers at their best; give them the space to sing, however, and sing they will!

What astonishes us most about the Kanta No. 3 is just how fast and tight it’s bass response is, when well-positioned in an appropriate listening room. There is the requisite added depth over the smaller Kanta No. 2 you’d expect with dual 8” bass drivers, as well as a larger sense of scale with extended dynamics. More importantly, however, there is still control and definition. This is not a boomy speaker by any stretch.

Of course Focal’s pure beryllium inverted dome tweeter sounds magical, as it always does. It works in tandem with the flax sandwich cone midrange driver to paint a grand soundstage as deep as it is wide. Every musician is placed with pinpoint precision. Close your eyes and you are in the room with your favourite artist, hearing your favourite songs as if for the first time.

Sound Advice

• The Focal Kanta No. 3 will sound great right out of the box, but it will sound better after 100 - 150 hours of use.

• For best results, we recommend a minimum of 30” of distance from the back wall to the back of the speaker.

• We recommend high performance speaker cable to get the most out of your system.
