The Creative Audio Review
This is a back-to-basics stereo amplifier that offers incredible build and sound quality and is our absolute favourite at this price point. There are no digital inputs. There is no phono input. But there is a whole lot of music, and what glorious music it is too! Like the long line of Musical Fidelity amps that came before it, the M2si has the air of a tube amp in its midrange and high frequencies, giving it just a dash of sweetness that is very seductive. This is no one-trick pony though, because the entire presentation is very well balanced. Thanks to a very robust power supply, this amp sounds far more powerful that its rated wattage would suggest. There is real authority in the bass but there is also texture and detail as well. This amp will give you new insight into your music and will bring you closer to your favourite songs and that is what it is all about. We think this is one of the best integrated amplifiers in its price range. Make sure its on your shortlist.
Sound Advice
The Musical Fidelity M2si will sound great right out of the box, but it will sound even better after 50-100 hours of use.
We always recommend quality speaker cable to get the most out of your amplifier.
Musical Fidelity M2si Technical Specifications
First, a word about specifications…
We provide this information from the manufacturer for those who want to know or who find it interesting. In our opinion, however, you shouldn’t pay too much heed to technical specs. How a component reacts to test tones in a lab bears little relation to how it will sound at home playing music, a far more complex and nuanced signal than any test tone. Knowledge is power and the best knowledge is not how a component ‘sounds’ to a computer, but how it sounds to you.
