The Creative Audio Review
As you pull the M5si out of the box, its tank-like construction tells you this amp means business. Musical Fidelity has always been known for superb build quality but that only gets you so far - what really matters, of course, is the sound. Fortunately we think the sound of the M5si is just as impressive as its build, perhaps even more so. This is classic Musical Fidelity, with a tube-like character to its midrange and top end that offers up plenty of detail and encourages listening for hours upon hours, thanks to the complete lack of fatigue. Of course with so much high-current power on tap, the M5si maintains an iron grip on your speakers, offer bass of incredible depth, control, and power. However, what impresses us more is the subtleties on offer with this amp; compared to the model below it, the M5si resolves so much more fine detail and micro dynamics. This amp is just more proof that investing more really does pay dividends. Definitely a favourite in our showroom!
Sound Advice
The Musical Fidelity M5si will sound great right out of the box, but it will sound even better after 50-100 hours of use.
We always recommend quality speaker cable to get the most out of your amplifier.
Musical Fidelity M5si Technical Specifications
First, a word about specifications…
We provide this information from the manufacturer for those who want to know or who find it interesting. In our opinion, however, you shouldn’t pay too much heed to technical specs. How a component reacts to test tones in a lab bears little relation to how it will sound at home playing music, a far more complex and nuanced signal than any test tone. Knowledge is power and the best knowledge is not how a component ‘sounds’ to a computer, but how it sounds to you.
