This streaming amplifier is a genuine twenty first century wolf dressed in 1970s audio sheep’s clothing...how on earth can NAD pack so much great technology and sound into such a reasonably priced amplifier?

The Creative Audio Review

We’ve always loved NAD amplifiers. They deliver incredible value for money. We guarantee this particular NAD will catch your eye right away, thanks to its gorgeous vintage styling. There is genuine heritage here, as the C 3050 is based on an NAD model from the 1970’s, the 3030. Yes, NAD has been making great sounding amplifiers for that long! It was a stroke of genius to wrap one of their contemporary designs in some retro skin. This style is only skin-deep, however, because inside this is a thoroughly modern NAD amplifier. It has a moving magnet (MM) phono input, as well as HDMI and digital inputs. Even better, it has NAD’s proprietary MDC card slot, allowing you to add hi-res streaming functionality with the NAD BluOS-D card.

Of course those sexy looks and all that tech would be for nothing if the NAD C 3050 didn’t sound amazing, but fortunately it does! There are two signature characteristics to the ‘NAD sound’ - dynamics and richness. The C 3050 can boogie, delivering a deep and punchy bass line. It’s not all show either, for there is real texture here; unlike lesser amplifiers with the NAD C 3050 you don’t just hear the bass note, you can feel the bass player’s finger rub against the string. The midrange of the C 3050 is, like all NAD amplifiers, lush and lifelike, and it reaches up to the treble which is always easy on the ear and never fatiguing. It is possible you can get more fine levels of detail elsewhere, but then you will also be investing more to get that detail. NAD offers tremendous sound quality for the dollar, and the C 3050 is another prime example.

Sound Advice

  • The NAD C 3050 will sound great right out of the box, but it will sound even better after 50-75 hours of use.

  • WiFi is built-in to this unit, however we always recommend a wired Ethernet connection if possible.
