Advanced
In the Rega Planar 6, the British turntable manufacturer takes their engineering principles to new heights, advancing on the already superb performance of the legendary Planar 3. The plinth of the Planar 6 is constructed from an ultra-lightweight foam core and features a double brace for increased rigidity and resonance control. The main glass platter is constructed of two layers, with extra weight concentrated on the outside to enhance the flywheel effect.
Controlled
The outboard Neo power supply included with the Planar 6 is tuned to the motor on the turntable it ships with for the ultimate in speed stability and vibration control. The main glass platter on the Planar 6 is constructed from two layers, with extra weight concentrated on the outside to enhance the flywheel effect, further enhancing the stability of its motion.
Musical
All of the advanced technology in the Rega Planar 6 exists to get the turntable out of the way of the music. The widely regarded RB330 tonearm, used by other turntable manufacturers in their best designs, allows the needle to trace the groove without distortion, letting the soul of the music shine through.
The Creative Audio Review
Demo track: ‘Waiting for the Night’ by Depeche Mode. You might expect us to choose a busier track on a higher end turntable, thinking we’d tell you about how much better it is at differentiating between many instruments playing at once. The Planar 6 can certainly do this, but we actually like this track because it shows the greatest strength of the Planar 6: revealing oodles of subtle detail that you never thought existed to the point of completely redefining the song. The texture and space in this recording just seems to fall flat on lesser tables, while on the Planar 6 it sounds truly ethereal. If your shopping for a truly transformative vinyl experience, the Planar 6 will show you a whole lot you didn’t know about your vinyl collection.

Sound Advice
The Rega Planar 6 will sound great right out of the box, but it will sound even better after 25-50 hours of use, when the cartridge has had a chance to break in.
Before playing, you should always remove any surface dust from the record using a quality anti-static carbon fibre record brush.
